2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI For Sale
The 2017 Volkswagen GTI is the performance variant of the Volkswagen Golf. It looks like an ordinary compact car, but inside, it has the DNA of a sports car. The Golf GTI provides all the benefits of a compact, with more cargo space than you’d get with a conventional sedan. If you’re looking for a Volkswagen Dealer to test drive the Golf GTI, you’ll discover something else — it’s fun to drive! These are just some of the qualities that have made the Volkswagen Golf GTI an icon for nearly 35 years.
The Golf GTI combines utility and sophistication, with upscale cabin materials, elegant upholstery, a powerful engine, and an optional six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission. Stability is excellent, as is the GTI’s ability to hold turns.
You can get the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI loaded with options. The Autobahn trim includes adjustable suspension dampers that can provide a softer ride when driving on the freeway or a tighter drive for winding country roads. The Autobahn can even be outfitted with an automatic parking setup and additional safety features.
As you might expect, the Golf GTI received well-deserved praise from the Automotive press, with Autotrader writing: “It's big enough for most people's needs, quick enough to keep an enthusiast engaged, comfortable enough to keep kids and in-laws from complaining, and smart enough to be a status symbol — and it even has some character. To merely call it a compact hatchback would be to understate what a great version of a great car the Golf GTI is.”
The 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a four-door compact hatchback that can seat five passengers. The four trim levels are listed as S, Sport, SE and Autobahn. All models get standard all-season tires, with summer performance tires available at no extra cost.

The Golf GTI is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder block that develops 210 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed dual-clutch automatic. All trims other than S get the features from last year's Performance package standard, which boosts the power to 220 hp. Front-wheel-drive is standard across the board. Edmunds tested the Volkswagen Golf GTI with the dual-clutch automatic gearbox and clocked the zero to 60 mph sprint at 6.1 seconds.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Golf GTI checks in at 28 mpg combined (24 mpg city/34 mpg highway) with the manual.* With the dual-clutch automatic, the numbers are 27 mpg combined (24 mpg city/32 mpg highway).
Standard features for the base S trim include a rearview camera, heated front seats, a 6.5-inch touch-screen display, an eight-speaker audio system, smartphone integration, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio and a USB port.
The Sport trim adds adaptive headlights, performance brakes, proximity key entry, a limited-slip differential and push-button ignition.
Opt for the SE and you’ll get leather seats, a sunroof, a premium Fender stereo system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a host of advanced safety features.
The top-of-the-line Autobahn trim gets dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, blind spot monitoring, touch-screen navigation, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. The optional Driver Assistance package adds lane departure warning, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, park assist and parking sensors.
